The statement that is at the tip of literally every Western Christian still out there today.
“God is Love”
However for a long time I didn’t really understand what it meant.
I used to be “religious/spiritual” in a very blatant philosophical way only.
For a long time in my life I did not pray daily or at all, didn’t try to quit bad habits/addictions; I didn’t meditate, didn’t fast and did not partake in any other religious or spiritual practices.
I merely read scripture, something which I’ve always enjoyed, reading old books.
And I endlessly fantasized about the Nature of God.
And God’s Love didn’t seem to play a big role in that nature, although that was the conclusion drawn by my youthful mind.
Even though “God is Love”, is literally the only attribute that a lot of religious people talk about, especially Evangelical Christians in the United States.
So, what does it really mean?
Does it imply that God loves everyone?
But I personally think that we should not humanize love in this ancient saying.
It is not so much about God loving people or His creation, it is more about God literally being Love.
He is love itself, as in the feeling, as in the state of Being in Love.
Most people can’t comprehend this, because they’re never in love and they never will be.
But when you’re truly in Love, nothing can mess up your life. You feel like you’re standing on top of the world constantly.
Most people are only biologically in love, they feel sex hormones and label it “Love”.
But that is not Love, it is merely a crush, and therefore your heart will get crushed.
True Love transcends all Earthly barriers.
It is Divine by its Nature.
It is part of Being itself, this entire universe is a testimony of God’s Love for Creation and His Spirit Children in Animal bodies.
If you can’t understand what I’m saying, you don’t understand Love.
Love is Creation.
What do married couples in Love do? They create children.
What do Supreme Loving Divine Beings do? They create universes.
Love means subtracting from yourself and giving to others.
“God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.”
– 1 John 4:16
A lot of people will say, that this is just a “feel good quote”, but the Bible of the Christians, contains a lot more metaphysical truth than most so-called believers take for granted.
Love is not an emotion, but a state of Being, therefore God is Love.
He is always Love, never angry, never depressed, never disappointed, never anxious, never jealous.
Jealousy is not Love and still Christians think God the Father is an angry, jealous being called Yahweh.
Yahweh is a tribal Canaanite war god my friends, it is not the Love Jesus and the great apostles talked about.
“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love because he first loved us. Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.”
– 1 John 4:18-20
What Christians have been doing throughout the centuries since the invention of Christianity at the council of Nicea, is anything but Love.
All that fear mongering, crusading, fire and brimstone preaching in the end was nothing but the work of Satan.
It has nothing to do with the Love of God.
And most Christians still lack this basic tenet of their faith even though the word Love is on the tip of their tongues all the time.
Why are Christians unable to Love in the way that Christ loved?
Why is any of us religious/spiritual people unable to truly experience Love in the way, that all the Saints and the Prophets talked about it…
It is because you lack Faith, you don’t truly believe in God.
Because God is Love and if you are unable to Love then you can’t Love God; because God is Love and you don’t know what to experience when you think about God.
I know that might sound complicated but this is the most simple and profoundest truth out there.
In the lands of the Aryans (India) where religion predates everything else, there is a highly evolved conception of the simple Biblical statement: “God is Love”.
While the spawns of Abraham where killing, looting and raping everyone around them for centuries and still deciding if they should either worship a golden calf or the Invisible Hebrew war-god in the sky; India was in its philosophical, spiritual and esoteric Golden Age.
The Aryans of Northern India had one of the most profoundest and philosophically empowered cultures on Earth, even better than the Greeks and the Romans.
In India “God is Love” is an entire religious school in and of itself, this is what Hindus call:
Bhakti Yoga is one of the three main spiritual activities that the Aryans of India gave to the world.
The others are Jnana Yoga and Karma Yoga. The word “Yoga” means Union and it has nothing to do with that ridiculous yoga class you attend.
Let me tell you one thing… there is no Yoga in the world today, anywhere.
The only true Yogi’s that exist can be found wandering the Gangetic plains or the forests of South-India.
Yoga means Union between the Soul and God, that is all it means, those strange postures on yoga mats all these white women practice has nothing to do with unifying the Self with God.
There are only three ways to attain Yoga as I said before: Bhakti (Love/Devotion), Jnana (Knowledge/Wisdom) and Karma (Action/Good Works).
Three spiritual paths that lead to the same goal, which is union with the Divine.
These three spiritual concepts that the Aryans have discovered, are present in literally all religions.
No, let me rephrase that, all religions are present in these three spiritual practices.
However today, we’re talking about “God is Love” which relates to the spiritual realm of Bhakti Yoga.
Bhakti literally means “Devotion”, so Bhakti Yoga means “Union through Devotion”.
Bhakti is true action in the philosophy of “God is Love”, Bhakti is selfless worship.
It is pure devotion without expecting anything in return.
Something which we should all strive for as religious or spiritual or conscious or woke people, whatever category you’ve thrown yourself into, devotion is necessary for a successful experience of God’s Love.
You won’t experience Love through God or Love for God if all you do is call yourself a Christian or a Muslim and just live a normal life in society.
The Aryans realized that God’s Love can only be experienced through exactly that which it is, Love…
And Love has to be cultivated, it has to be practiced and experienced every day, if you want to experience the Lord God and His mysterious ways.
You won’t experience Love if you pray 5 times a day, from a place of fear instead of Love.
Muslims don’t love Allah, rather they fear Him and His eternal punishment in the fires of Jahannam.
And that is only the truly religious Muslims that actually pray 5 times a day, which is only like 5% of all Muslims.
And I am certain that it is even less than that.
There is no Love in Islam, Islam is about fear and obedience.
The word literally means “Submission”, and Love is not submission but freedom.
You won’t reach the Love of God either by endlessly attending church with an empty heart and a sleeve of sins dragging behind your Jesus-cart.
However most Christians think they’re already saved because they believe Jesus died for their sins.
Meanwhile, they’re angry, depressed, lonely, sad, weak, gay or mentally perverted.
They have all these emotions, which shows that they’re not truly saved by God’s Love or through His Grace.
The word emotion comes from Latin through Old French and it means “to stir up, agitate or disturb”.
Love is not an emotion but a State of Being, Jesus Christ was continuously in Love because He was in God and God was in Him.
This is the spiritual state which we all must reach through Bhakti, complete devotion in God’s Love.
You won’t ever say to your partner: “I love you but not today, I don’t feel good today, maybe tomorrow I’ll love you again.”
Would you ever say that?
You wouldn’t because you Love your partner regardless of your emotional state.
Therefore Love is not an emotion.
And loving God is something continuously which never fades away, if it truly happens and you get to that point.
This is what all the prophets, saints, seers and sages of the ancient past told us.
Once the truth has been reached, it shall set you free.
How to Bhakti:
The Love of God can be experienced in countless ways and Bhakti is not one-sided, there is a form of Bhakti in all religions as I said before.
If you are a Christian, it might be wise to continuously repeat the Name of Christ and absorb the thought-form of Christ’s power into your subconscious mind.
This is how you create a relationship of Love.
Not by begging Christ to help you pay your bills or whatever silly material things people beg their gods for.
This is not how you create Love and this is not how you experience God’s Love, despite Him most likely answering your prayers nevertheless.
Because God in His infinite Love can still give evil people anything and everything they want, and He does it all the time.
Therefore materialism is not a sign of abiding in God’s Love.
True love for God is when you devote yourself to His worship without asking anything in return, this is the path of Bhakti, and this is not a purely Indian practice, neither did it originate in India alone.
The Aryans of beyond the Indus river merely perfected it and they’re known for it as well throughout the world.
We all have seen these Hare Krishna’s in the West, there is not a greater example of a Bhakti movement than those happy people.
They worship Krishna just because He is Krishna, and not for anything else.
How do I know this? Because they walk through every major city in the West, chanting the name of Krishna wherever they go with a big fat smile on their face and dance to their God’s name as if it is a carnival every single day.
Christians can learn a lot about this type of devotion, since this is the key that Christ gave them into reaching the Union with Love (God).
For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
– Paul the Apostle, Romans 10:12-13
Repeat the name of Christ continuously with utmost devotion, and His Love will fill you from within.
Muslims should stick strictly to Dhikr, which is the remembrance of Allah, and He has 99 names to remember Him by, ain’t that a fun coincidence?
Even if you don’t associate with Islam, you can literally feel Divine tranquility and Love entering your Being, once you repeat it for a while.
The remembrance of Allah is the greatest of worship according to the prophet Muhammadﷺ :
“The similarity between the one who remembers His Lord and one who does not remember Him, is like that of the living and the dead.”
– Riyadh as-Saliheen: Book 16, Hadith 1434
If you’re from a Hindu family like me, then worship the Ishta Devata (personal god) of your choice and devote yourself through the recitation of Mantra.
If you don’t believe in Idol worship or Ishta Devata’s, then you should fully immerse yourself in the recitation of AUM, which is God’s true Name in the Vedas.
In the end all religions have this concept of Bhakti and the endless devotion through recitation of God’s name or names.
This creates a loving bond between Soul and God; Spirit and Higher Consciousness, Finite Intelligence and Infinite Intelligence.
